Charging Across the Litter Field, Rising Ever Higher — 2026 Cat Litter Industry Conference Successfully Concluded
From September 17 to 19, the 2026 Cat Litter Industry Conference and the 3rd Ningcheng Pet Industry Development Conference arrived as scheduled in Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia.
Over three days — one friendly football match, one opening ceremony, and one factory tour — the industrial ambition behind “a single grain of litter” was laid out before every attendee.
Rooted in Ningcheng and grown on the strength of its premium bentonite resources, Xingmei Technology took part in every stage of this industry event — competing side by side on the pitch, sharing insights at the opening ceremony, and delivering an on-site answer sheet for the “intelligent manufacturing” of premium bentonite cat litter to the whole industry with the commissioning ceremony of a new production line.
01 Meeting as Friends on the Pitch: A Passionate Kickoff of “Charging Across the Litter Field”
On the afternoon of September 17, the green pitch in Ningcheng was alive with excitement. The friendly football match specially curated for this year’s conference kicked off under the theme “Charging Across the Litter Field” — a celebration not only of sprinting and sweating on the grass, but also of the cat litter industry charging ahead across the vast market.
Two ace squads — Team Shengteng (“Soaring”) and Team Shengshi (“Momentum”) — took to the field, with every player drawn from across the cat litter industry’s upstream and downstream sectors. On ordinary days, they are partners who plough the industry side by side; on the pitch, they were evenly matched rivals going all out. Every sprint, every deft pass, every hard-fought attack and defense showcased the competitive spirit and team responsibility of pet industry professionals.
The Xingmei team also stepped out of the workshop and the conference hall, changed into jerseys, and made friends through football, growing closer with every run and pass. Win or lose, there is style; to strive is glory — this industry friendly match set a passionate tone for the entire event.
02 Opening Address: Zhang Wenhan on Two Decades of Ningcheng’s Cat Litter Industry
On September 18, distinguished guests gathered on the historic land of Liaozhongjing (today’s Ningcheng). With the support of governments at all levels, industry organizations, and upstream and downstream partners, the conference opened in grand style.
At the opening ceremony, Zhang Wenhan, General Manager of Xingmei Technology, delivered an address to all guests on behalf of the Ningcheng County Cat Litter Industry Association, in his capacity as a host. He began with “a single grain of litter”: more than 20 years ago, the first batch of cat litter companies took root in Ningcheng. After more than two decades of dedicated development, Ningcheng is now home to 32 cat litter companies, producing two-thirds of China’s bentonite cat litter, one-third of Asia’s, and one-fifth of the world’s. Its products reach over 140 countries and regions, and it works with more than 1,400 global brands, forming a complete industrial cluster covering mineral mining, deep processing, intelligent production, testing and R&D, cross-border e-commerce, and brand trading.
To Zhang Wenhan, this foundation has been built up generation after generation by Ningcheng’s cat litter professionals, and it is also a microcosm of China’s cat litter industry growing from nothing and from small to large. Yet the industry now stands at a new crossroads: homogenized competition, quality challenges, environmental pressure, and cost fluctuations have become common issues facing the whole industry, while consumers’ demand for products with low dust, safety and environmental friendliness, and compatibility with smart devices continues to rise.
"The era of extensive growth is over." He anchored the theme of this year's conference in a single character — "Sheng" (rise): industrial upgrading, value elevation, and landscape ascension are the defining tasks that this generation of practitioners must confront together.
03 Inside Xingmei: An On-Site Review of "High-End Intelligent Manufacturing"
On September 19, the conference's industrial inspection tour visited Xingmei Technology. As the third stop of the tour, this core manufacturer of premium bentonite cat litter showed the industry its "hard-core credentials."
The visiting guests were given a detailed briefing on the project’s planning, construction progress, and capacity positioning. Focused on expanding high-end functional bentonite cat litter capacity and upgrading processes, the new project introduces a new generation of intelligent production equipment and represents the company’s core strategy to fill the gap in high-end capacity and expand into the mid-to-high-end market. The tour then moved into the existing automated production workshop, where a complete closed loop spans raw ore mining, formula R&D, intelligent production, custom processing, and export trade. With a planned annual capacity of 200,000 tonnes of premium bentonite cat litter, the fully automated production line effectively reduces human error and ensures stable product quality.
From raw ore to finished product, the fully automated line writes quality into every single step.
In the 800-square-meter R&D and quality testing laboratory, world-class testing instruments from Mettler-Toledo and other international leaders are arranged in a row, capable of comprehensively testing core indicators such as dust, clumping, water absorption, and antibacterial performance, covering the entire process from incoming raw materials to in-production sampling and finished-product release. Today, the company’s CNAS laboratory accreditation continues to consolidate its capabilities in high-end product R&D and quality control.
At the inspection site, Zhang Wenyuan, Vice General Manager of Xingmei Technology, accompanied the guests throughout and gave a systematic introduction to the company’s development journey and business philosophy in the cat litter industry. In areas such as low dust, strong clumping, and long-lasting odor control, Xingmei Technology has built solid technological advantages.

Participants jointly explored the intensive utilization of mineral resources, clean production, and green transformation; exchanged views on new materials, new processes, intelligent production lines, and product innovation; worked together to improve industry standards, resist vicious low-price competition, and safeguard China’s cat litter brands; and pushed to break down the barriers among raw material plants, brand owners, distributors, and research institutions.

05 Industry Outlook: From "China's Cat Litter Hometown" to "the World's Cat Litter Factory"
Ningcheng prospers because of bentonite and is known for cat litter. The bentonite cat litter produced here accounts for two-thirds of China's output, one-third of Asia's, and one-fifth of the world's — every single grain connects to the daily lives of cat-owning households around the globe.
The pet economy is still expanding, but the logic of the track has changed: what consumers want is no longer litter that “works,” but litter that “works well.” Scenario-based demands such as low dust, safety and environmental friendliness, and compatibility with smart litter boxes will push the industry to keep investing in green, intelligent, and high-end development.
For Xingmei Technology, this conference was both an industry home ground and its own home ground. From the planned 200,000-tonne capacity to CNAS laboratory accreditation, from fully automated production lines to the portfolio of high-end functional products, the company is steadily advancing along the path of “high-end intelligent manufacturing.”
